Beach Please is a mobile application targeted at local Australian tourists who are looking to be more sustainable but have not yet found an entry point to sustainability.
Ripcurl x Adobe Creative Jam 2020 set forth a challenge to create an app prototype to address the issue of coastal sustainability in the Torquay coastal region. This brief was part of a national creative jam competition for universities in Australia and New Zealand facilitated by Adobe.

Gamification of educational materials can improve engagement and optimise learning. For us, we also though of when users might engage with the app, whether whilst planning their trip or on the road to Torquay!

Making more sustainable choices shouldn’t be hard. We’ve created a range of fun characters who know some simple tips and tricks to reduce your impact whilst visiting Torquay.

Highlighting the work of local communities was at the heart of our app. We looked towards the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee for their guidance on sustainable tourism and the Surf Coast Shire for volunteering opportunities.
